Thomas Hooker Elementary School Health Office

The school nurse provides direct health care, provides screening and referral as well as promoting health. The school nurse serves as a link between school personnel, family, community and health care providers.
Some recommendations from the school nurse are;
1) Please be sure your child is well enough to attend school.
2) When you report your child's absence to the main office please provide information on his or her illness especially if it is a communicable illness. 3) Notify the school nurse if your child sustains an injury. It is important to obtain a note from the treating physician stating any restrictions.
4) The school nurse may give your child medication if they must have medication. The following must be included in order to give medication;

MD orders are required for all medications given.

Medications must be in original labeled container.

An adult must bring all medications to and from school.

All medications should be picked up at the end of the school year.
Classroom Celebrations
Classroom celebrations are important to students. We ask for your cooperation in promoting as well as protecting your child and his/her classmates health. It is recommended that parents do not send food to school for celebrations. Alternatives to food include; goody bags, stickers, erasers or a small gift.
